Halifax developer, Kerry Lynch, is expanding his portfolio to include luxury cabin rentals on the South Shore.
With a reputation for focusing on thoughtful construction and design to maximize small-space living, Lynch has preserved the lot’s natural surroundings through the placement and size of the cabins.
Each cabin is open-concept and welcomes lots of natural light, views of the trees through the carefully placed windows and skylights, and are all connected by a winding raised boardwalk whose dual purpose is to provide accessibility while preserving the natural growth landscape.
When it comes to why he chose to expand this vacation property with the cabins, Lynch says, “I recognized an opportunity in this area for small-scale, high-end accommodations that enable guests to really enjoy Mahone Bay and its surrounding areas. Whether you are coming from Halifax for a short getaway, or outside of the province for a longer stay, guests can be active outdoors on the Rails to Trails system, visit neighbouring Chester and Lunenburg, and be able to walk to the local restaurants, cafes and shops that Mahone Bay is known for.”
In addition to Black Forest Cabins, Lynch also owns Brewery Park Hotel in Halifax’s North End.
Paying homage to Halifax’s rich architectural history, the buildings are equally at home in 2020 as they would be in 1820. Familiar architectural detail; clapboard wood siding, and traditional wood windows in concert with dentils, and corbels are ubiquitous in Halifax’s character-filled North End. Carefully considered human-scale design preserves the neighborhood’s walkability and architectural articulation aimed to contribute to the neighborhood fabric.
